Year 2 Sem 3 - The Summary

And there comes the end of my second year of degree. One more year and I'm free from limitations as a student (financially especially). Wee~ Here's the summary of my final exam this semester:

  • Microeconomics - This is easiest final exam I've ever took in my degree. The lecturer actually just copied the whole thing from the book written by him into the final paper, without any amendments. That was awesomely cool. Finished the paper without any lag. Not quite positive about the grades though, since everyone should be doing pretty good with such difficulty.
  • Credibility Theory - Another pretty easy final exam due to all the tips given by the lecturer and the effort I had put in due to my terrible coursework. Unfortunately, I was late for about 20 minutes for that. Thank god it was a 2.5 hours exam, otherwise I would be doomed. There's none of the questions that I wasn't sure about the working, so barring calculation mistakes and key-in mistakes to the calculator, I was doing pretty well.
  • Introduction to Actuarial Mathematics - One of the two must do well subjects this semester in my opinion as this and Financial Economics are the true gateway to the actuarial field. Not too bad I suppose, but you never know until the results are out.
  • Applied Statistical Models - Well, the questions are pretty straight forward as usual. The key that determines my grade will be the strictness of marking - my coursework marks was lower than expected because of that.
  • Financial Mathematics - I overkilled the coursework, so not much of pressure on this one. Still doing fine though, as this is my favourite subject of the semester.
  • Advanced Calculus - I screwed up pretty bad on this one, but that was expected - this subject is just too industrial unrelated that I couldn't give full concentration to study. Furthermore, I was addicted to Remi Gaillard on the day before the exam!
In short, despite the grades won't be as good as GPA of 3.95 on the first sem (not even close!), this semester is the semester that gives me the most satisfaction in terms of academic performance. I am pretty excited to see who'll get into the president list as well - those who do this sem are real actuarial talent.
